So proud of the many South Africans involved in this - well done to all the organizers of this amazing rescue. Thinking of all the affected people (and animals) in Northwestern Bahamas, Abaco Islands and Grand Bahama Island.
M/Y Laurel was a part of Operation Topaz, a Hurricane Relief plan put together by YachtAid Global, helping those affected by Dorian in Grand Bahamas and Abaco. Dylan and I documented a crazy 48 hours of the Laurel crew loading and delivering 50 tons of supplies, as well as picking up, caring for and delivering 50 rescue dogs from Nassau back to Big Dog Ranch Rescue in Florida.
We could not be prouder to be a part of MY Laurel, led by Captain Roy Stephanie Hodges and Chief Officer Wikus Botes.
There is still a long way to go and these areas in Bahamas still need our help. Two ways to get involved are donating to YachtAid who continue to aid the remaining affected areas, as well as Big Dog Ranch who are continuing to rescue and rehabilitate as many dogs from the Bahamas.

To my filming partner, Dylan, who I have known and worked with for the past 2.5 years, I am so glad we finally got to work on a video together. I had full faith and trust in you through this entire process - you really have such a talent Dyls - I could not be prouder of the end product which is a complete mash up of both our styles. Hope to create together again in the future.

By FAR our favourite story of the week - WELL DONE M.Y. Laurel. Our thoughts and love go out to all hoomans and fourpaws affected by the devastating Hurricane in the Bahamas.
Not only did they rescue these poor babies, they also delivered 30 tons of requested aid from Nassau to Freeport, Grand Bahama. The majority of the aid included food, medical kits and tarps that are needed by the Grand Bahama residents whose houses have damaged roofs, but can still be lived in and occupied.
We salute all the yachts, owners and yacht crew who are involved in some way or form in rescues, delivering goods to Bahamas, donating funds - this is the yachting industry we want to be a part of!! ... See MoreSee Less
There are 50 rescue dogs from the Bahamas in Laurel’s tender garage right now. Here is a first look at some of them. Hurricane Dorian devastated Grand Bahamas and Abaco, there are many dogs that have been separated from their owners and shelters there that arent able to keep rescue dogs. These dogs are from Bahamas Humane Society, and we are all taking every opportunity to love on them as much as possible. When you hear "rescue" or "stray" it's sometimes hard to picture them as loving, loyal pets - but TRUST me these dogs are the goodest boys and girls, we all wish we could adopt all of them. A lot of work and paperwork went into this - so grateful to everyone mostly Roy Stephanie & Wikus Botes and our incredible owner for offering his crew and yacht to help. If anyone reading this is interested in adopting them - they are going straight to an incredible rescue ranch Big Dog Ranch Rescue ( bdrr.org/applications/ )❤ Bahamas Humane Society your pups are being taken care of - and we will be visiting them at Big Dog until they find their homes hopefully soon! - Lots of love, the Laurel Crew
Update: the dogs are safe at BigDogRanch but they are asking for donations for various surgeries for some of the pups!!! Donate here: bdrr.org/donate/
UPDATE: Remember Bahamas is still open for business - let’s support them through tourism!
