Over the past few years, the SYSA Apprenticeship Programme has become one of the most rewarding pathways available to former students looking to take the next step in their careers. What began as an opportunity to develop instructor-level skills has evolved into a programme that helps talented crew transition into leadership, teaching, and specialised industry roles.
Many of our apprentices have gone on to strengthen their careers both on board and ashore, gaining valuable qualifications, practical experience, mentorship, and industry exposure along the way. The programme has proven that learning does not stop once you leave the classroom. In many ways, it is just the beginning.
With another successful season behind us, we are excited to announce that applications are now open for the 2026/2027 SYSA Apprenticeship Programme.
At SYSA, we are not only training the next generation of superyacht crew; we are helping to shape the future leaders of the industry. This apprenticeship offers former SYSA students the opportunity to return, further develop their skills, contribute to the training environment, and gain valuable instructor experience.

Each season, SYSA identifies former students who have distinguished themselves through their professionalism, work ethic, commitment, and passion for the industry. As part of this intensive, hands-on apprenticeship programme, successful candidates will have the opportunity to:

Who can apply?
The apprenticeship programme is exclusively available to former SYSA students who:
- Have successfully completed training through SYSA
- Are above the age of 21
- Are motivated, reliable, and eager to grow into leadership roles
- Are available to begin the programme from the start of November 2026
We are looking for individuals who are passionate about the industry and excited by the opportunity to mentor others while continuing their own professional development.

Due to the personalised nature of the apprenticeship and the level of mentorship involved, only a limited number of candidates will be selected each season. Early applications are strongly encouraged.
